New fraud emails in the name of FIG President Potsiou

5 June 2017

Please note that a mail sent out around 5 June with the sender address: chryssy.potsiou@fig.net is fraud. This email adress does not exist. The email address is only an "alias" and if you reply to the email you will be directed to another email address, and to some fraudsters.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to prevent these kind of fraud emails - and they are extremely annoying. Hopefully, you will understand that FIG President Potsiou would never write to any of our contact persons in this way.

Lately, this kind of fraud has become quite common. A fraud mail in the name of the CEO of a large company write to either the financial department - or in this case all related to FIG - to ask for money. In Denmark, some financial departments have managed to send several millions to fraudsters on this behalf, believing that they were communicating with the CEO.

SO PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THE EMAIL. YOU WILL NOT BE COMMUNICATING WITH PRESIDENT POTSIOU.
